Azealia Banks engaged Ryder Ripps on the 21st of February 2021. The pair, unfortunately, parted ways when Banks broke the engagement a few weeks after going public about his proposal.
Azealia Banks’ engagement to the artist and creative director Ryder Ripss was releveled through a post on Banks’ Instagram. The ‘212’ rapper took it to Instagram on February 21 to show off her golden engagement ring featuring a menorah. The ring was a Ripps family heirloom.
She captioned the post ‘I just got engaged Kunts. I’m crying… I’m Jewish now’. The caption also said ‘MAZEL TOV BITCHES! WE IN HERE….. YERRRRRR.’
She also posted some pictures of her engagement, where her boyfriend got down on one knee and presented her with the ring while kissing her hand. Some critics were also quick to question her newfound faith to which she replied ‘You can’t stop me. I’m a Jewcy Diva now.’
It’s unclear when the couple met. But it is assumed they met through Elon Musk’s girlfriend Grimes. Ripps designed the album art for Grimes’ 2020 album Miss Anthropocene. And in 2018 Azealia claimed she was invited to collaborate with Grimes.
A week after Azealia Banks’s engagement to Ripps she broke things off with him. She revealed the breakup through an Instagram story post captioned “Lol, I just dumped @ryder_ripps. He’s too insecure for the wildly creative she-wolf in me. I’m keeping the menorah ring tho. The heirloom is mine. The Jewcy diva lives on.”
Azealia Banks’ relationship with celebs
Azealia Banks is known as quite a controversial person. She’s had a feud with people who’re quite famous for little to no reason. She’s had feuds with high-profile artists such as Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, Izzy Azalea, and so on.
Despite her music career, if there’s one thing Banks has become best known for, it’s her endless list of feuds on and off social media with her fellow musicians. We’ve seen a lot of lengthy back and forth beefs and one-sided rants and attacks from her.
In 2012 Nicki Minaj tweeted #ManTheseBitchesDelirious, allegedly in response to Banks declining the opportunity to accompany Minaj on tour in Europe. Banks then posted a string of tweets as a response to Minaj as if Minaj had uttered her name. Banks later apologized for that in 2017 and Minaj accepted her apology.
Later Banks started a feud with fellow rapper Cardi B by calling her a ‘poor man’s Nicki Minaj’, and accused the rapper of using a ghostwriter for her Billboard Hot 100 No 1 hit ‘Bodack Yellow’. However, Cardi responded by posting a video of Banks dancing to the track in a club. Later Banks ignited another feud with Cardi B but it died down quickly.
Overlooking Azealia’s history fans weren’t quite surprised when Azealia Banks’ engagement was short-lived.
