EastEnders have confirmed Alfie Moon’s return to Walford.
After a three-year hiatus, Shane Richie has returned to the role of Alfie, and the timing of his return is planned to coincide with the week of his ex-wife Kat and Phil’s wedding.
Alfie will return to the screen on Monday, September 12 — much to Kat’s surprise, according to early spoilers for later this month.
As Kat gets ready to marry Phil, who is also dealing with some issues, she receives the shock of her life when Alfie shows up at her door.
Alfie will go to great lengths to achieve his goals in the upcoming episode, but where will this leave Kat and Phil’s future?

In an interview with Metro.co.uk and other press, the producer, who has made some welcome changes since taking over, talked about Alfie’s comeback, calling him the “love of Kat’s life”—and we couldn’t agree more.
He said, “It was inevitable.” Kat and Phil are paired up. Because Alfie is Kat’s true love, we had to bring him back, and their wedding day was the ideal time to do so.
Chris reaffirmed his love for Alfie by saying that even if Kat and Phil weren’t getting married, he would have found another way to bring the character back. Alfie makes a lot of mistakes, but he always has good intentions.
I really like Alfie, he said. He is a recognizable character, and this year marks 20 years since his debut—this year’s November.
“Although a lot has changed since Alfie left the Square, you can always count on him to spread joy, merriment, and, of course, the occasional porky pie wherever he goes.
So we are delighted to welcome him home.”
