Despite keeping things under wraps at first, many noticed that Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde were in a romantic relationship when they were photographed holding hands at Jeffery Azoff, a close friend and manager of Harry, in January 2021.

Immediately, the couple faced backlash to their burgeoning romance, and rumors started to spread.
Even though they appeared to be open about their relationship and the impact “negative” comments had, it seems that this only served to fuel the fan’s ire.
“I hate Olivia Wilde, and I’m not sorry for that,” one harsh Twitter user wrote.
The duo address the negativity toward them
In an intimate interview for the Rolling Stone cover story published Monday (August 22), Harry and Wilde talked about the segment of Styles’ fan base that has made it a hobby to post TikToks and tweets mocking everything from Wilde’s 10-year seniority to her dancing, which they frequently record on video whenever she is present at one of Styles’ concerts.

Harry said, “That obviously doesn’t make me feel good,” referring to the abuse Olivia had received. “Being close to me makes you feel you are being held captive by some Twitter troll or something, which is difficult to experience. I only desired to sing. If I was going to hurt people that way, I didn’t want to get involved.”
Olivia also discussed her relationship with Harry and said that, despite the criticism she has seen online, she does not think it accurately depicts Harry’s fandom as a whole.

That kind of toxic negativity is the antithesis of Harry and everything he puts out there, which is what I don’t understand about [that] cruelty, said Olivia. “I don’t think his fan base is defined in the least by the hateful energy, personally. Most of them are genuine kindness champions.
